24/01/07: Australia Day at the National Museum

The Tullys are heading up the Australia Day celebrations at the National Museum of Australia - live at the Ampitheatre.  We'll be playing a range of music to complement the theme 'Between the Flags: 100 Years of Surf Lifesaving"  Performance times are 12.30 to 1.30 and again from 2 -3pm.  It's a great chance to dust off old favourites like Blondie's "The Tide is High" as well as Beach Boys and other fun songs from the surfing era.

2007 commemorates the centenary of surf lifesaving in Australia, and has been developed in collaboration with Surf Life Saving Australia as part of the celebrations for the Year of the Surf Lifesaver in 2007.  We're grabbing our Hawaiian shirts and putting flowers in our hair.... well, some of us are!  Seeya there - the Ampiheatre, Lawson Cres, (must have been named after our brother Lawson!) Acton Peninsula.

02/10/06: 'Getaway' at Boorowa Woolfest!

The Tullys had a throughly enjoyable time in the warm-hearted town of Boorowa on Sunday 1st October.  The whole town (and what seemed at times like probably half of NSW and the ACT as well!) turned out for the annual running of the sheep festival.

The town had a comprehensive program, starting the night before, where Cameron and Mechelle sang and played at Mass at St Patricks.

It was such a pleasure to headline at the Festival where we had our first performance, and to play sets of a mixture of half traditional Irish, and half modern pop/rock, folk/rock, including our originals.  Was a better song than "Danny Boy" ever written?

We have a special connection to Boorowa, having won our very first competition there in 1999, when we won the Irish band Busking competition and took home a princely $1000 which was a terrific help in setting us up with better equipment and getting us on the road as a band.

Getaway filmed an amusing segment with Jules, as he braved the running of the sheep, so soon after the running of the bulls in Pamploma.  As a bag bought at the Festival said, "London, Paris, Rome, Singapore, Boorowa, New York" ...  Says it all!

19/09/06: The Tullys' Melbourne Gig

The Tullys had a great time in Melbourne on Wednesday 13th - playing in Fitzroy.  What a city!  Just love it.  Many thanks to the fans, friends and family who supported us.  Jamie and Rob drew the short straw of driving down and back with the gear, but kept themselves amused with great music and food!  Cam managed to miss a flight and Mechelle spent nearly half an hour in security while they checked her stroller out very carefully!  You've got to watch out for those dangerous mommas!  A great time was had by all.
